Expensive but I love it, 16 Dec 2011

If you're looking for a baby carrier to use occasionally there are much cheaper products that will suffice but if you want something you will love using so much that you create situations where you can use it then go for the Ergo baby.

It's really easy to put on by yourself once you have the hang of it but make sure you read the safety info as its easy to miss something just using common sense.

My baby is now 3 months old and I've been using this since she was about 5 weeks with the infant insert which is sold separately (adding the expense). At first I just used it round the house so I could keep her close whist doing the washing up or sweeping the floor but I really did love it so much we started going out on daily walks (something I never would have done voluntarily otherwise).

We also used it around the airport and for getting on and off the plane on a recent trip back to see family and it was perfect for keeping her calm as well as freeing up our hands to carry everything else!

The pocket on the front is perfect for a muslin, a nappy and your phone and keys and the little hood helps to protect baby's eyes and head from the sun and rain.

Baby looks very comfy in a more natural crouching position, pretty much as she would be if I was carrying her and the frame is comfortable for both myself (5ft7 with wide hips!) and my husband (who is over 6ft with a more slim build).

She's pretty much grown out of the infant insert now so you wouldn't need to buy one as long as baby weighs more than 5.5kgs. Although they suggest you use it until 4-5 months of age my baby was 5.5kgs at 2 months and it does seem to be a bit tight for her at her current weight of 6kgs.

All in all if you want a carrier you'll love using for long periods frequently, go ahead and splash out on the ergo baby.

THE LOVE OF MY LIFE...... 33lbs and still going, 17 Dec 2010

I bought this when I my daughter was young i.e had the newborn insert and now at 33lbs and 16 months its a life saver. I don't drive and although she walks if she wants a sleep she'll go into it snooze and then out and ready. If she wants to stay in it I don't mind even carrying her on the front dosn't ache it dispersises the weieght so evenly and as a single mum can get it on and off in a flash. I have now mastered the back carry and use it more than my pram less folding more independence and continued bonding what more do you want :D

This chair is great, I can tie.my.daughter up in it and go down to spar for some crisps without worrying about her knockig over any of my wifes airfix model

We bought this carrier based on excellent reviews elsewhere. And so far, its been brilliant.

Our newborn is coming on for three weeks old. We've taken him out in this several times and he loves it - dozing off straight away. My wife and I have both used it.

Its easy to put him in and take him out. And at 8.6 pounds, he was a heavy child but, even after an hour and half of walking, I barely felt his weight. Some other reviews mention problems with the extra safety feature on the clips, but we've found them very straightforward. And I love that you can pack it away into a small bag.

I would have given this five stars, but the one notable downside is that in the newborn, front-facing mode, the baby's face is basically resting on your outer layer of clothing. When I'm wearing a jacket, I've been worried (a) that he'll end up with a zip imprint on his cheek! or (b) he'll be sick on it! But we've found an easy fix to this, by just using a muslin cloth to protect him and our clothes!

We've not yet used any of the other carry modes, but based on our experience so far, I'd recommend this carrier without hesitation!

I absolutely love the Beco Gemini, what a wonderful carrier! Lovely lightly padded body to keep baby cosy and little thighs supported, fastastically comfortable even with a heavy toddler, offers 4-positions (front facing-in, facing-out, back and hip), easy to use and great with newborns too. The Beco Gemini offers everything in one package ... what a great investment!

I bought this carrier from Amazon a couple of weeks ago after having a few 'technical difficulties' with a standard carrier. I would say it is 'simple to use' rather than 'basic' (it is only a long length of fabric) but it is very quick and easy to secure and tie. I also feel that my nine week old son is safe and enjoys being in the wrap, and its also handy for keeping in the car for trips out (not sure how weatherproof it would be though). The wrap also came with full instructions as to how to use the carrier in different ways, which will be handy as my son gets older. Overall its great value for money!

I can't rate this highly enough. With a small, colicky and refluxy baby who insists on being held upright all day, I was desperate for something to hold him securely and comfortably, whilst freeing up my arms and relieving the stress on my back. We had tried a Baby Bjorn carrier which somehow wasn't comfortable for him being so small.
I had been anxious about trying a fabric wrap in case it wasn't secure and it looked complicated to use. I need not have worried - this wrap is easy to tie, and I feel he is safe in it. It's a lovely soft yet sturdy fabric, and as it's just a long length of fabric, it will fit all people. Once tied, I can keep it on and slip him in and out of it as necessary without untying/retying it. He seems to fall asleep in it quite quickly when I move around with him in the wrap, and is a useful way of dealing with the overtired inconsolable crying which we sometimes get.
The way it is tied uses your whole back, making it more comfy than some other slings I've tried, and I can wear it for a number of hours quite easily.
The only slight niggle is the head support - until the baby can support his own head, you have to tuck it under one of the side "arms", which he doesn't like when awake as he can't see and his head is not in the neutral position, so I support it with one hand until he falls asleep. Once asleep though he seems pretty comfy with his head tucked in as recommended.
I'm really glad I bought this wrap, especially as he won't grow out of it for a while (30lbs apparently). The chocolate colour is richly beautiful too.

I carefully researched all the back carriers until I settled for this one, i did originally look at the next model up but as this one was available as an ex demo at a bargain price the saving was too good to miss. And in fact unless you are an avid hiker who needs extra storage space then this is ideal. There is a small detachable bag which is just big enough for a change of clothes and nappy etc and another pocket which could hold a drink. My little one was a little unsure at first use but as soon as she was securely harnessed in and able to see up high she loved it. The disadvantage to the next models up is it doesnt include the rain canopy but these are inexpensive to buy as an add on. It also doenst have a freestanding stand like some of the others but this means less bulk on your back and it is easy enough to just keep one foot on the base to steady it while you strap the little one in. It is so nice to be able to take the dog for walks and not have to worry about carting the buggy about and cleaning the wheels etc. It certainly ticks all the boxes for ease of use and comfort and highly recommend it.

Having checked out many different toddler carriers before buying the Little Life Cross Country S2 I was extremely pleased with it. It's light, well designed, and very comfortable. The foot hold at the base is a great idea for those worried about it toppling over but it is actually quite sturdy on it's own. It's very easy to put my son into, good straps, looks and feels very secure. I even prefer it to using a buggy particularly on quick trips (saves all the folding, etc etc). A very small niggle would be that the zip on the back pocket sticks a little, possibly because it is curved. Other than that, very pleased with it!
